I would like to introduce the Sims 3 Drifter Adventure Challenge. I got the Idea from combining two challenges that I truely love. First the Drifter challenge created by Vihisha for the Sims 4, and secondly from the Random challenge I found on Mod the Sims site. You can find these 2 wonderful challenges at these links: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/818109/the-drifter-challenge/p1 and http://randomlegacychallenge.blogspot.com/ I would like to personally thank the creator’s of both of these 2 challenges for inspiring me to create my own combining the things I love about them together for a new sims 3 challenge.

This challenge is all about trying new things and playing each generation not only on a new mini challenge, but will be played out on a new lot, and also with new  and different goals. It incorporates all expansion packs, but is not required that you have all expansion packs. you can choose wich mini challenges you want to play, mix and match in what ever order you want. All while building a town and community up with each new generation.

I will post a new mini challenge once every few weeks (2-3 weeks). Remember to have fun with them!

A Drifter’s Hunger Games

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

In honor of the final Hunger Games movie release last week, here is this Drifter’s spin on the Hunger Games with the sims.

This mini-challenge will have 2 parts. Part 1 will be the actual hunger games, and Part 2 will be played out with your heir/main sim and the winner of the Hunger Games.

Part 1:

First you will need to build a mansion on a large lot of your choice. Your mansion should be surrounded by a fence. It needs to have once large bedroom with 7 single beds or any combination of beds that allows up to 7 sims to sleep. Then be sure to include a suite of rooms for your main sim to live in comfortably, bedroom, living room, kitchen/dinning room. You will need several large rooms for skilling competitions. Each of the skilling competition rooms should be filled with 7 or 8 of the same skilling items. Some of these skilling rooms or “arenas” can be fenced in rooms outdoors wich is perfect for rock climbing walls! Be creative and have fun with this build. I will upload mine soon for anyone who might be interested.

Part 1 of this challenge will be played with aging off, and with doors locked on all skilling rooms/arenas, personal suite of rooms, which should include a large kitchen/dinning room (you may use buffet tables for this room if you want or deck out with full top of the line kitchen appliances -your choice). Your main sim is the only controllable sim through out Part 1. You may buy aspiration rewards for your main sim only through out Part 1.

After building your mansion go back into “edit town” and create a new household with 7 random sims. Each sim must be created completely with the random buttons. You may only choose one of the 7 lifetime asperitations given on the traits screen in CAS. You may however after all 7 sims are created change their clothing, hair, and make-up only. All other aspects of your sims should come from those random buttons, especially their traits. Once your have your hunger game tributes completed, using the “freerealestate” cheat move them into your mansion. Then if this is your first generation move your founder in with the tributes or if continuing on from your last generation move your heir out of their family home and merge them in with the tributes. Also, only in part 1 you may use the motherlode cheat if needed to pay bills.

Keeping your game paused make sure all the doors are locked to all but your main sim, except for the “Tributes” bedroom and bathrooms.
You are now ready to start the games!

Day one:
First thing in the morning have a feast for your tributes and unlock the Dinning room and either have your main sim cook for the tributes or fill up your buffet tables for them. At noon re-lock your kitchen/dinning room to all but your main sim. If any tributes are still in the room you may take control of them only to make them leave the room with the “move here” inter-action.

choose one of your skilling rooms or “arenas” and unlock to all at 8am.  At midnight check each Tributes skills and find the sim with the lowest skill levels. If there is a tie for lowest skill levels, then the tie breaker will be the sim with the lowest popularity or lowest relationships with all sims in household. If it is too close to tell who is more popular then check to see which of the tied sims have the lowest amount of aspiration points!

Day two:
The kitchen/dinning room will be unlocked from 8am to noon for all tributes but the loser or tribute with the lowest skill level from yesterday’s skill challenge. Your main sim always has full availability to all rooms at all times.

choose another  skilling room or “arena” and unlock to all at 8am. Now you should have 2 skilling rooms/areanas unlocked.

At midnight the loser tribute from the day before, who was locked out of the kitchen/dinning room all day should be kicked out (go edit town and move this sim out with the split household option, then merge this sim in with any other household … or … just for extra fun if you choose to torture your poor simmies, you make keep them in household and let them continue to compete and see if they survive … Please note that if you choose to keep all of your tributes until they starve to death you can not get rid of their urns/tombstones or ghosts. You may however move the urns/tombstones to another spot on the lot and make a small graveyard on the estate.

Day three:
The kitchen/dinning room will be unlocked from 8am to noon for all tributes.

choose another skilling room or “arena” and unlock to all at 8am.

Day four:
The kitchen/dinning room will be unlocked from 8am to noon for all tributes but the loser tribute from day 3.

choose another skilling room/arena and unlock to all at 8am.

At midnight the loser tribute from day 3, who was locked out of the kitchen/dinning room may be kicked out (go edit town and move this sim out with the split household option, then merge this sim in with any other household … or … just for extra fun if you choose to torture your poor simmies, you make keep them in household and see if they survive.

Day five:
The kitchen/dinning room will be unlocked at 8am for all tributes.

choose another skilling room/arean and unlock to all at 8am.

Day six:
The kitchen/dinning room will be unlocked at 8am for all tributes but the loser or tribute with the lowest skill levels.

unlock all skilling rooms/arenas to all at 8am.

At midnight the loser tribute from day 5, who was locked out of the kitchen/dinning room may be kicked out (go edit town and move this sim out with the split household option, then merge this sim in with any other household … or … just for extra fun if you choose to torture your poor simmies, you make keep them in household and see if they survive.

Day seven:
The kitchen/dinning room will be unlocked from 8am to noon for all tributes.

Unlock all remaining skilling rooms/arenas to all at 8am.

Repeat days 6 and 7 alternately until there is a winner.

The winner will of course will be the last tribute left. You will then pause your game, turn aging back on for everyone and move your main sim and the hunger game winner (your new roommate!) to a small empty lot somewhere in your town and begin part 2

Part 2:

You may control both sims your heir and your new room mate and these two sims  only through out Part 2. You must turn aging back on for all sims before starting Part 2

Rules and Guidelines for the Sims 3 Drifter Adventure Challenge

Basic Rules and Guidelines:

– Each mini-challenge should be played with normal aging on (unless specified otherwise). However if you find a challenge a bit hard you may re-try it on long life, or if you find them easier than you like want a more challenging challenge try playing on short life. You are also welcome to try any of these challenges on any custome age length you come up with!

– Any and all individuals added to your household, should be added through game play (ie, marriage ceremoney, ask to move in, or adoption. Any money that comes in with the new roomate or spouse must be immediately subtracted back out of your family funds via the “familyfunds cheat”

-Once you move a sim in, they can not move out (except for death of a sim when you can move their tombstone to the cemetery), you will need to watch your household count as a full house w/no natural born heir produced, could result in a failing the mini-challenge.

-unless stated otherwise each mini-challenge any Sims that move-in or that are born in game are not controllable by you (in other words you cannot control them in any way individually (complete hands off with full free will on for all sims except your main household sim. You can, however access their inventories to retrieve items, your main sim may invite them or take them with when leaving the household lot. If new household members are employed they can keep their job or quit if you choose, but may not switch jobs. You may buy them aspiration awards if they earn enough points on their own.

– If your main sim dies before heir is born the mini-challenge ends as a fail. So it is recommended that you have 2 saves for the beginning of each mini-challenge incase of a fail and you want to restart with the same mini-challenge or try a different one.

-If your heir dies, mini-challenge ends, you do not get to choose the next child and play on.

– All household Sims are customizable through the CAS screen using any dresser or mirror in game.

– Custom Content that does not provide stats or moods is ok (for example CAS clothing/make-up/item or random household decor items)
-Custom Content like a cheap bed with really good stats or a fridge with free food for example, is NOT allowed

-Mods that help with putting books back into bookcases and the like, are ok

– In other words, if it is a cheat that makes things easier for you, it probably isn’t allowed.

You will want to start your founder generation with an empty map. You can choose any world map you want and demo all the lots or find/choose your favorite empty builders map. All community and residential lots should be empty before you start, with the exception of these 5 Community (you may mix and match how you like, but you are only allowed 5 community lots to start with:

  1. fishing spot
  2. small park (community garden)
  3. grocery store
  4. City Hall
  5. Beach

You may start with any of these 5 lots: 1 of each, 5 fishing spots, or mix and match as you please, as long as you only have 5 to begin with.

There will be no scoring with this challenge … each generation is a mini-challenge to completed or not as you choose. The main goal is to have fun with it and try out new things that you have not already tried in the game.

Your founder or first mini-challenge sim should be a new sim with no skills or aspiration points. You may create a new sim or download a new sim as long as they do not currently have any skills or aspiration points/rewards. They may have whatever look you want, you may choose your founders traits as well. You may not however choose any of your descendants traits. Each new child born must roll the dice for their traits, and you must roll the dice for traits added as they age up.

** special note: aspiration rewards to change traits are allowed .. so if you do not like your traits rolled you can change them with reward points you have earned.
